Cultural Compatibility¶
Discover fun, culturally-inspired compatibility insights with the people you're dating.
Overview¶
Revoir includes four compatibility systems that give you playful insights into your connections. Each system calculates a compatibility score, highlights strengths and challenges, and offers actionable tips.
Tip
All compatibility features are for fun and reflection — not scientific predictions. Every relationship is unique, and real connection depends on communication and effort.
The Four Systems¶
Connection Style¶
What it is: Based on love languages theory, Connection Style identifies how you prefer to give and receive affection.
The five styles:

| Thoughtful Actions | You feel loved when someone does something helpful for you |
| Meaningful Gifts | You feel loved through thoughtful, personal gifts |
| Undivided Attention | You feel loved when someone gives you their full, focused presence |
| Physical Closeness | You feel loved through hugs, holding hands, and physical affection |
Revoir Personality Type¶
What it is: Revoir's original dating personality system with 16 types, each with a dating-context name. Based on cognitive preference patterns.

Blood Type¶
What it is: Inspired by ketsuekigata — the Japanese cultural tradition of personality and compatibility based on blood type.
The four types: A, B, O, AB — each with distinct personality traits in this tradition.
Chinese Zodiac¶
What it is: Traditional 12-year cycle zodiac based on your birth year.
How it works: Your Chinese Zodiac sign is automatically calculated from your birthday. No quiz needed.

Connection Style Quiz¶
A 10-question quiz with dating scenarios. Each question presents two options — pick the one that resonates more.
- Go to Settings > Astrology & Culture
- Enable Connection Style
- Tap Take the Quiz
- Answer all 10 questions
- Your primary style is set automatically
Personality Type Quiz¶
A 12-question quiz with dating-context scenarios to determine your type.
- Go to Settings > Astrology & Culture
- Enable Personality Type
- Tap Take the Quiz
- Answer all 12 questions
- Your type is set automatically
Tip
Already know your type? You can skip the quiz and select it directly from the picker.
Setting Up Compatibility¶
Your Data¶
Set your own types in two ways:
- Take a quiz from Settings > Astrology & Culture
- Select directly from the picker in Settings > Astrology & Culture
Your Connection Style and Personality Type can also be selected from your You profile.
Their Data¶
Set compatibility data for people you're dating:
- Open their profile
- Tap Edit (ellipsis menu)
- Scroll to the Compatibility section
- Set their Personality Type and Connection Style (always visible)
- Set Blood Type (when enabled in Settings)
- Chinese Zodiac is calculated automatically from their birthday
Viewing Compatibility¶
Compatibility Cards¶
Once both you and a person have data set for a system, a compatibility card appears on their profile:
- Score — Percentage compatibility (higher is more compatible)
- Headline — A short summary of the pairing
- Description — What this pairing means
- Type badges — Shows both your types side by side
Detail Sheets¶
Tap any compatibility card to see the full breakdown:
- Score bar — Visual percentage with compatibility level (Very High, High, Good)
- Headline & Summary — What makes this pairing unique
- Strengths — What works well between you
- Challenges / Growth Areas — Areas to be aware of
- Tips — Actionable suggestions (Connection Style only)
- Disclaimer — Reminder that this is for fun
Enabling & Disabling Systems¶
Control which systems are active:
- Go to Settings > Astrology & Culture
- Toggle each system on or off
- Enabled systems show compatibility cards on person profiles
- Disabled systems hide their cards but don't delete your data
Tip
Personality Type and Connection Style pickers are always visible when editing a person, even if the system isn't enabled in Settings. This lets you record data now and enable compatibility later.
Privacy¶
All compatibility data is stored locally on your device, just like everything else in Revoir. Quiz answers and compatibility scores never leave your phone.
